Inclusive Maps has been created in the context of Inclusive Design and is tackling the issue of regular maps not meeting the needs of every user. It is the task of empathetic creators to fill this gap and create maps that are meaningful for people that don’t make a lot of use of existing maps. In the project, we explored this idea by creating a map for people with pollen allergy by using urban tree data and pollen calendars.
Inclusive Maps provides a conceptual framework for designers, developers and social scientists who want to create maps for different groups of people, especially for people with disabilities or other challenges.
The project was created together with Sylvia Kautz and Sebastian Rauer as an entry to the Microsoft Research and Design Expo 2015.
